Last weekend I was guiding in Bieszczady mountains – remote and wild mountains located in southeasternmost part of Poland.

A home for many bird species – for some of them (like Ural Owl and Golden Eagle) it is the main refuge in the country.

It is also definitely the best spot in Poland to observe large mammals. You may have an opportunity to see Wolves, European Bisons, Brown Bears, Lynxes and sometimes even Wildcats. During my stay I only saw European Bisons, but I also witnessed tracks of Brown Bear and multiple Wolves.

It was also a magical time of year to visit southern Poland due to a colour change of Beech leaves.
